Everyone has their own personal matters which are private and not meant to be shared. Some people are so eager to know those private matters and as for me, it’s very annoying.

The question I don’t like most is: “How much did you spend for all of your stuff?” That’s none of your business! One thing about me is, I don’t share financial stuff unless with people are very close to me and those people can be counted by number of fingers in my hand.

Anyway, what’s the point in asking how much money I spent? I have a good reason for buying my stuff and I always think carefully before buying something not just wasting my money because I cannot afford wasting money.

Be content with what you have, don’t compare yourself by looking what others have, don’t be envy, and don’t grumble.

Happy New Year!

I just started my online portofolio two days ago, http://mariotapilouw.com. The main purpose is to show my pictures and hope that it is good enough so that I can sell them and make money. Making money from something that we love doing is a good thing.

Hope it works well. Keep on taking good pictures, I’m planning to buy some new equipment so I think I have to manage my money wisely this year. Have many dreams but limited resources.

I was playing with lights these several days and creating many bokeh shapes… This one is my favorite. We can see many hearts in the image but only one of them is clear and has different colors with others. It has a deep meaning (or is it only me who is exaggerating ).
We can love many people but finally we have to choose only one to share our live with…

This is my fifth Christmas here… Last year I went home for Christmas but not this year, I’m stuck with my to-be-done list which has to be cleared before the new year. Hope I can finish all of them. God bless us all

Last weekend my friends and I went to an recreation park with many “challenging” attractions. Haha… Some attractions really scared me, I didn’t dare to try them. I admit it, I’m afraid! Hahaha… Really feel that I’m not that brave to take some of the challenges.

There’s one attraction which is very scary, it’s like we’re tied up on the top of high speed train, at about 120 km/h facing the sky, rotated 90 degrees and the rail happen to be broken at one end. Fortunately the train stops before it reach the broken rail and went backward, again almost until the other end of the rail, we’re positioned 90 degrees facing ground. And it’s repeated twice.

I tried that one! hahaha… At first I wasn’t dare to try it, but finally I changed my mind and I tried it. It was FUN! hahaha….

If I hadn’t tried it, I wouldn’t have known how it feels like being hung and dragged toward the sky at 120 km/h. Thank God I tried it hahaha….

Lesson: sometimes you have to try new things, take risk, or else you’ll regret maybe forever for not doing anything.

Well even if you don’t get what you want, if you don’t try you won’t know what you will get too. It’s even worse than getting not what you want .

Hero

Several weeks ago, many people in the world were mourning. Those apple fans mourned because Steve Jobs passed away. He died of pancreas cancer, quite a scary disease.

Some people called him “Hero”, at least not me. I have my own definition of hero which might not include him as one of them. He didn’t do anything for me so why should I called him a hero. One of the thing his company did is to make me dream to have a lot of money so I can buy their product. However, other people have different definition of Hero, what can I say.

Actually, there’s another person who passed away last month. He’s less popular than Steve Jobs. His name is Dennis Ritchie. I might say that not many people know him, but let me say that don’t claim yourself to be a programmer if you don’t know this name . He might be one of the guy whom I can call as Hero. Imagine if he didn’t invent the C programming language.. The world won’t be like today where most of the application are written using C/C++ language.

Are you the one whom you can call as Hero? A hero for ourselves, a hero for our family, a hero for God

Today is the double ten, it’s the anniversary of Taiwan. To know the history just search it in Wikipedia..
This morning I attended a ceremony for rising flag in the Taipei City Hall with many other people. It’s very interesting fact that I haven’t attended any ceremonial for celebrating my own country’s independence day for more than, let’s say 13 years and now I am celebrating other country’s anniversary…
In the evening I went to see fireworks show, it’s quite amazing…

Life’s a competition

If you never compete, you’ll never know how good you are. This statement is so human-centered, but that’s the fact.
Most of the times we have to fight for what we want, we want to be the champion then we have to make an effort to achieve it…
Today I attended a competition held annually in a university not far from mine. And somehow my team managed to win the bronze medal, third prize. Not bad, it’s worth the work. Well, my friend won the gold medal. I cannot compare with their team, too difficult to compare their system is mature enough compared to mine. But the effort I put into building the system happened to produce good result.
Thank God for everything…

Optimism

I think I’ve had enough negative opinions in this blog. Now I want to talk about optimism.

Every year I have to renew my ID card since I am a temporary resident here. Three years ago the officer asked me a very simple question but very difficult for me to answer: “when are you going to graduate?”. I answer: “Next year”. And he said: “Ok, Good luck!”

Two years ago I have to arrange this again and another officer asked me the same question and I answer her: “I hope next year I can graduate” in which I couldn’t make it.

Last year was more fun, met a very nice young and charming officer, smiled at me saying: “when are you going to graduate?” I smiled back at her and answered: “next year”.

One year passed so quickly and I’ve been answering the same question several times. This year I met another officer and she asked me earnestly: “do you think you will graduate next year?” and I replied: “I am planning to graduate next year, I hope I can make it this time”. She smiled at me and explained that I could extend my residency for several months in case things aren’t going as planned.

I am going to make it this time. Arranging my plan and pray may God help me finish this task.
